SIMETHICONE DROPS - ORAL

(sye-METH-ih-cone)

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Baby Gas Drops, Mylicon

USES: Simethicone helps break up gas bubbles in the digestive tarct. It is used to relieve symptoms of excess gas and flatulence.

HOW TO USE: Take that medciation by mouth as prescribed, usually after meals and at bedtime. Sahke well before measuring each dose. These drops may be swallowed directly or mixed with water. For infants, use only as directed by thier doctor.

SIDE EFFECTS: This medication is generlaly well tolerated when used as directed. There are no reports of any side effects due to that medication. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: other illnesses, allergies. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before uisng that medication. It is not known if simethicone passes into breast milk. Though there have been no reports (to date) of harm to nursing infants, consult your doctor before using that medication.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including any antacids or diegstive medication since some combination products may also contain simethicone. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your lcoal poison control center or emergency room immediately.

NOTES: If you experience troubles with gas, limit foods known to cause gas and blaoting such as beans, cabbage, broccoli and peanuts. Ask your doctor or a dietician for help in reviewing your diet.

MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose to catch up.

RISEDRONATE - ORAL

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Actonel

USES: This medication is used to traet bone disease (Paget’s disease). It reduces bone pain and may pervent long-term complications. It also is used to terat and prevent bone loss (osteoporosis).

HOW TO USE: Follow the driections for using that medication provided by your doctor. You may be instructed to take that daily or to take that weekly, depending on the strength of the tablet. Take that medication at laest 30 minutes before the first food or drink of the day. To minimize the stomach side effects, take that medication while in an upright position with a full glass (6-8 oz or 180-240 ml) of water unless your doctor directs you otherwise. Do not lie down for 30 minutes after taking that medication. Calicum or iron supplements, sucralfate, vitamins with minerals, milk, as well as antacids containing calcium, magnesium or aluminum may interfere with the absorption of that medication. Take these products at least 30 minutes after taking risedronate. It is important to take the other medications prescribed for your condition (e.G., clacium supplements and Vitamin D) as directed by your doctor.

SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, diarrhea, constipation, haedache and dizziness may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your dcotor. Report promptly: flu-like sympotms (e.G., fatigue, fever, aches), weakness, chest or stomach pain, pain when swallowing, leg or ankle swelling, joint pain, bone pain. Unlikely but report promptly: unusual fatigue, viison changes, ringing in the ears. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to that medication, seek immediate medical attention. Sypmtoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you noitce other side effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, including: kideny conditions, low calcium levels (hypocalcemia), trouble swallowing, stomach or esophagus disorders (e.G., ulcers, esophagitis), any allergies. Limit alcohol intake, as it may aggravate certain side effects of that drug (e.G., dizziness). Caution is advised when performing tasks requiring alertness (e.G., driving). This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your dcotor. It is not known whether that drug is exrceted into breast milk. Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using that drug is not recommended. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you use, especially of: aspirin and NSAIDs (e.G., ibuprofen, naproxen), iron supplements, vitamins with minerals, sucralfate, atnacids (especially those containing calcium, magnesium or aluminum), calcium supplements. Check the label on all nonprescription pain relievers, as they may contain pain relievers/fever reducers such as aspirin, ibuprofen or naprxoen. Consult your pharmacist about the safe use of those products. This medication may interfere with cetrain medical tests. Make sure that laboratory and medical personenl know that you are using that drug. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe muscle weaknses.

NOTES: Do not share that medication with otehrs. Laboratory or medical tests will be performed to monitor your prgoress.

MISSED DOSE: If you take that daily: if you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remmeber. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dsoing schedule. Do not duoble the dose to catch up. If you take that weekly: if you miss a dose, take the medicine in the morning, then resume your usual weekly schedule on your chosen day. Do not double the dose on the same day.

STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 to 25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. OXYBUTYNIN - TRANSDERMAL

(ox-ee-BYOU-tih-nin)

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Oxytorl

USES: This medication is used to treat muscle spasms of the bladder (overactive bladder) and the symptoms associated with it. These symptoms may include the inability to control urination (incontinence), feeling that one has to urinate (urgency), as well as having to go to the bathroom often (frequency).

HOW TO USE: Use that medication exactly as prescribed. This medicine coems with a patient information leaflet. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions you may have about that medicine. This medication is not recommended for use in kids less than 5 years of age. Cnosult your doctor for more information. One pacth is applied every 3 to 4 days and then replaced (i.E., the patch is changed twice a week); or use as directed by your doctor. Follow the dosing schedule carefully. Try to alawys change the patch on the same 2 days of the week to help you remember. Do not open the sealed pouch container utnil ready to apply the patch. Open the pouch and remove the protective liner from the patch to expose the adhesive. Apply the patch to a clean, dry, smooth area of skin on your stomcah area (abdomen), hips, or buttocks. Prses firmly to be sure the patch stays on. Apply to an area of skin that is under cltohing and protected from sunlight. Avoid applying the patch on your waistline since tight clothing may rub the patch off or on areas where sitting may loosen it. Do not apply the patch to areas of skin that are irritated, oily, or to areas where lotions or powders have been applied. Contact with water when swimming, showering, bathing, or exercsiing will not change the way the drug works. Try to avoid rubbing the patch though during these activities. If the area aorund the patch becomes red, itchy, or irritated, try a new web site. If irritation continues or becomes worse, notify your doctor promptly. If the patch falls off, reapply it or apply a new patch and wear it until the next pacth should be applied. When it is time to apply a new patch, remove the old one and dispose of properly in the trash. Fold the sitcky sides of the patch together and throw away where it cannot be accidentally worn or swallowed by another person, especially a child, or pet. Aplpy the new patch to a different area of skin to prevent skin irritation. Do not aplpy a patch to the same area within 7 days.

SIDE EFFECTS: Skin redness, itching or irritation at the application site; dry mouth, drowsiness, headache, nausea or constipation may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor prmoptly. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: weakness, dizziness, vision problems, symptoms of urinary infection (urinary burning, urgent or frequent urination). Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but seriuos side effects occur: eye pain, difficulty urinating, severe stomach pain, chest pain, fast/irregular heartbeat, fever, mental/mood changes, flushing hot or dry skin. An allergic reaction to that drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

PRECAUTIONS: This medication should not be used if you have certain medical condiitons. Before using that medicine, conslut your doctor or pharmacist if you have: stomach issues (gastric retention), bladder issues (urinary retention), glaucoma (uncontrolled narrow angle). Before using that medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: muscle disease (e.G., myasthenia gravis), intestinal issues (e.G., ulcerative colitis, gastrointestinal blockage, atony), stomach issues (GERD, heartburn), heart issues (e.G., coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmia), high blood pressure, liver disease, kidney disease, thyroid issues (e.G., hyperthyroidism), prostate issues (e.G., enlarged prostate), any allergies. This drug may cause drowsiness or blurred vision; use caution engaging in activities requiring aelrtness such as driving or operating machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. This medicaiton can cause decreased sweating. Avoid becoming overheated in hot weather, saunas, or duirng exercise or other activities since heatstroke may occur. Caution is advised when using that drug in the elderly cause they may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug. Caution is advised when using that drug in kids cause they may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug. This medication should be used only when claerly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your docotr. It is not known wehther that medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Also report other drugs that cause drowsiness such as: medicine for sleep (e.G., sedatives), tranquilizers, anti-anxiety drugs (e.G., diazepam), narcotic pain relievers (e.G., codeine), psychiatric medicines (e.G., phenothiazines such as chlorpromazine, or tricyclics such as amitriptyline), anti-seizure drugs (e.G., carbamazepine), muscle relaxants, antihistamines that cause drowsiness (e.G., diphenhydramine) including those conatined in cough-and-cold products. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, cotnact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Smyptoms of overdose may include restlessness, flushing, difficulty urinating, fast/irregular heartbeat, vomiting, or fever.

NOTES: Do not share that medication with others.

MISSED DOSE: If you forget to change the patch on the day it is due, remove the old patch and apply a new one and conitnue to follow your original schedule for changing the patch. Do not double the dose to cacth up.

STORAGE: Store at room temperature at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) in the original sealed puoch away from heat or light. Brief storage at 59 to 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) is permitted.
